Directory use guide

Read every medicine listing with confidence

This practical guide shows how to identify a PMBI directory record and what to verify before using it for an order. It provides product-information guidance only; it does not provide medical advice.

Start with the identity of the listing

A product name by itself is often not enough to identify an exact listing. Similar names can appear with a different strength, dosage form, or pack. Begin with the drug code, then match the full generic name and the listed unit size. This avoids mixing up two different source rows while preparing an order.

Understand the fields

Drug code

The reference identifier for a row in the supplied PMBI list. It is the best starting point when finding an exact entry again.

Generic name

The name shown in the supplied list. Read its complete wording, including strength and dosage form where shown.

Unit size

The listed pack description, such as tablets, vial, millilitres, or grams. It describes one listed pack, not the number of packs being ordered.

Listed MRP

A reference value from the source snapshot. A local Kendra should confirm the current price before sale or order placement.

A five-step verification workflow

  1. Find the drug code. Search the directory using the code when available.
  2. Read the full record. Match the generic name, strength, dosage form and unit size together.
  3. Check the price status. “Under process” means the supplied row did not have a usable positive MRP; it is not a zero-price product.
  4. Confirm the source date. An official change may exist after the directory’s update date.
  5. Verify externally. Confirm current MRP, stock, purchase eligibility and product details before making a decision.

Use the directory for preparation, not prescription decisions

The directory is designed for product lookup and order preparation. It cannot say whether a product is appropriate for a person, whether it is a substitute, or how it should be used. For those questions, rely on a qualified healthcare professional and the authorised dispensing process.

When a record looks different from the official list

Save the drug code, the value shown here, the value on the official PMBI list, and the date checked. Send these details to support@pmbiapp.com. The official PMBI source always takes priority.

Keep this in mind

Product data is useful only when the exact record is checked

Pricing, availability, packaging and product status can change. This site keeps a dated reference directory, but an official PMBI source or authorised Jan Aushadhi Kendra must confirm current details.
