Data source and update methodology

We explain where the product information comes from, how it is prepared for search, and what the directory cannot confirm.

The product and MRP list supplied for this directory is compared with the official PMBI product portfolio.

Rows are converted into consistent searchable fields without adding medical interpretation.

Primary source

The directory is based on a supplied PMBI product/MRP list with a reference date of 29 September 2026. The authoritative external reference is the official PMBI Product MRP List.

What the published dataset contains

The current directory contains 2,439 product rows across 68 medicine groups. Each row may include a serial number, drug code, generic product name, unit or pack size, MRP, and group name. A total of 344 rows are shown as “Under process” because the supplied price was zero or not a usable positive MRP.

Transformations applied

  • Drug codes are retained as identifiers and made searchable.
  • Leading/trailing spaces and common formatting inconsistencies are normalised for display and search.
  • Valid positive MRP values are formatted in Indian rupees.
  • Zero or missing usable MRP values are labelled “Under process” rather than treated as a free product.
  • Group names and pack descriptions are preserved as source information; they are not converted into medical categories or recommendations.

Quality checks

  • Row count and group count are recalculated after import.
  • Duplicate or missing identifiers are reviewed.
  • Price fields are checked for numeric formatting.
  • Search, sorting, pagination, CSV export, and order totals are tested against the published data.
  • Products without a usable MRP are excluded from estimated order totals.

Update approach

The directory is reviewed when a revised PMBI list is supplied or identified. Updates are not guaranteed to be real time. When data changes, the file is re-imported, the checks above are repeated, and the reference date shown on the site is updated.

Known limitations

  • The list does not provide live inventory for individual Kendras.
  • A source update may appear before this independent directory is refreshed.
  • Local availability, selling price, prescription requirements, and authorised substitutions are outside the dataset.
  • Names and pack descriptions may reflect the wording used in the source list.

Corrections

If a row appears different from the current official list, email support@pmbiapp.com with the drug code, displayed value, official reference, and date checked. Official PMBI data always takes precedence.

Verification remains essential

Before purchase or order placement, compare the exact drug code, strength, dosage form, pack size, MRP, and availability with the official PMBI source or an authorised Jan Aushadhi Kendra.
